Supported Employment Program for Adults

Our Supported Employment Program works with adults over the age of 30 with disabilities who are interested in paid community employment and can work completely independently in the community following a period of Job Coach support.

The Next Step

The goal of The Next Step: Supported Employment Program for Youth is to enable young people with differing abilities to learn new skills while gaining valuable work experience. We know that employment in the community adds to the social inclusion of young people with disabilities as their social and employment networks grow. As a result, young people can become more independent and more confident while expanding their own personal horizons.

Our person-centred approach to supporting our clients with disabilities in finding employment is as individualized as our clients. We know that young people, either recently diagnosed or living with a lifelong disability, present different assets, interests, challenges, aspirations and goals. The focus of The Next Step is to work with each person to develop a vocational way forward centred on their individual employment plan.

It is our objective to bridge the gap between high school graduation and paid employment support for young adults who seek our services. Since its inception in 2020, The Next Step has facilitated employment opportunities for 66 individuals with disabilities.

Application Process

In addition to our community programs, New Leaf Enterprises runs a successful in-house program for adults with disabilities who work right here in our centre in Burnside. With a participant driven approach programs are developed and offered to meet the needs and interests of the individuals we serve.
