Camp Tidnish provides an entirely accessible and barrier-free indoor and outdoor overnight camp and recreation facility – the only one of its kind in Nova Scotia. Each year we host hundreds of campers from across Nova Scotia. Our programs are designed with inclusion, independence, and the personal development of our campers and staff in mind. While we work hard to preserve our camp traditions and culture, we have added policies to be Covid Safe.

The health and safety of our campers and staff is of great importance to us, so we have adopted policies and procedures to help us continue to give a safe and magical experience to all that come to camp. We ask that when you come to camp you help by following our Covid Safe Procedures below.

During registration, all campers must complete the COVID section on our application form and submit a copy of their Proof of Covid Vaccinations. These can be scanned and e-mailed to the Camp Director.

1. We require a minimum of two doses of the COVID vaccine.
2. Prior to arrival at camp, a medical report must be completed and submitted by May 1st, 2024.

1. When you arrive, our Parking Crew will direct you where to park and give you a rapid COVID test to complete in your vehicles. Parents/guardians and Campers are required to stay in their vehicles until tested for COVID.
2. Our Check-in Crew will come to your vehicle to check your rapid COVID Once your bags are in the Baggage Zone you and your camper/s will be able to head to Check-in at the Pavilion – follow the Check-in signs.
3. Our Baggage Crew will help you label and move your bags to the flagged Baggage Zone for distribution to cabins.
4. Once your bags are in the Baggage Zone you and your camper/s will be able to head to Check-in at the Pavilion – follow the Check-in signs
5. Once at the Pavilion, you will check in with the Assistant Camp Director who will get guardians to sign their campers in and direct you to get take a seat in line to talk with our Health Care Manager (Nurse), where you can give medications or any updates. At this time, you will also be able to chat with the Camp Director or Food Service manager to discuss anything else that might be pressing, enjoy free refreshments, use the bathroom or visit the Tuck Shop Shack.
6. Once campers are checked in and you’ve seen the Health Care Manager you will be able to take your camper to their cabins to meet their Cabin Counsellors and to get your campers settled.

NOTE: If a camper is brought to camp and has experienced any signs/symptoms (fever or signs of fever, new cough or worsening chronic cough, runny nose, headache, sore throat, OR new onset of fatigue, new onset of muscle pain, diarrhea or loss of taste or smell) in the past 14 days, the camper will be sent home. We encourage folks to do their own test the day of camp prior to your trip here (which will be in addition to the one you will take when you arrive at camp.) We would hate for folks to do the journey just to be turned away.

High touch areas and frequently used spaces will be cleaned on a regular basis throughout the day. Staff will clean and disinfect all equipment and programs spaces in-between uses.

Masks are optional, campers are not required to wear them during their stay.

Hand washing and sanitization will be required on a regular basis. Hand sanitizer stations will be placed around the camp. Campers are required to sanitize their hands before and after each activity.

If campers show signs and symptoms of COVID the camper will be immediately placed into isolation. The Health Care Manager will then assess the camper and decide on their findings.

Members of the ill campers’ groups will be monitored closely for symptoms and parents/caregivers will be notified.

Should the camper be found to likely be positive for COVID, the parent/caregiver will be contacted and required to come and retrieve the camper as soon as possible.

NOTE: We understand that it is disappointing when campers must leave camp early, but it is important Families/Caregivers have a contingency plan in place should the need arise.

When you arrive at camp please report to the checkout table where you’ll meet the Assistant Director and the Health Care Manager. You’ll be able to sign your camper out and collect any medication and visit the Tuckshop. Once you have signed your camper out your camper will be brought to you by a counsellor.
